I have a heart for animals--all animals, and especially our furry feline companions.
In 2009 we adopted our little black cat, Mo (Mozambique), from Elmbrook Humane Society. She'd been in the system for a long time, waiting for us. And that's where I started, as a volunteer in 2010.
Did you know they have a volunteer role called 'cat socializer?' Dog walkers too. (Check it out.) Once a week, we take a little time to be there and "socialize."
It allows the cats to get out and stretch and get some extra TLC and play time. We saw how "Mo" just wanted to stretch, big stretches, when we got her home. It feels good knowing we are helping prepare these sweet things for the person or family who will love and adopt them. Elmbrook Humane Society is an Adoption Guarantee facility, and it's a good place with good people.
