Animals ... especially CATS ... touch my heart ...
I grew up on a farm. Barn cats and calves were my first pets and playmates.
so today I'm a vegetarian and humane society volunteer.
I volunteer at and contribute to the Elmbrook Humane Society In 2009 my husband and I adopted our little black cat, Mo (Mozambique), from Elmbrook Humane Society. She'd been in the system for a long time, waiting for us. And that's where I started as a volunteer a few months later.
CAT SOCIALIZER / Cat Care Specialist, etc...
WHO KNEW there was a volunteer role called 'cat socializer?' (Dog walkers too!) (Check it out.) Once a week, when I can, I take a little time to be there for some still waiting for a home, and do a little kitty cuddling "socializing." It's good for me too.
It's soothing, allows the cats to get out and stretch, and gives them some extra TLC and PLAY time.
I remember how "Mo" stretched, those big long stretches, when we got her home. It feels good to be helping prepare some sweet cats and kittens for the person or family who will love and adopt them. Elmbrook Humane Society is a no-kill facility, and it's a good place with good people.
